June 25, 2025 – Shanghai, China – xuanran Wire, a global specialist in precision welding consumables, today announced the commercial release of RobotArc-Pro 308LSi-G, a GMAW (MIG) wire engineered specifically to minimize post-weld spatter and maximize paint adhesion on stainless-steel fabrications. Early adopters in the automotive-exhaust, food-processing and architectural-panel industries report reductions of up to 70 % in manual grinding and a three-fold increase in first-time paint-booth throughput.
The challenge
Stainless-steel GMAW traditionally generates heavy silica islands and micro-spatter that must be removed before powder coating or e-coat. Each missed particle can cause pinholes, adhesion failure or costly rework. “We were running two full shifts of grinding just to keep up with our robot cells,” said Liu Wei, welding engineer at BrightMetal Kitchen Systems. “XXX Wire’s new formulation changed that overnight.”
The science
RobotArc-Pro 308LSi-G combines:
• Ultra-low silicon (< 0.30 %) to eliminate glassy SiO₂ films that block paint. • Rare-earth surface activation that promotes chemical bonding with epoxy primers. • Micro-alloyed arc stabilizers to cut spatter volume by 55 % (ISO 4063 test method) and reduce tip build-up. Independent tests by TÜV Rheinland show: • Adhesion rating ASTM D3359 5B on beads ground only with a 120-grit flap disc. • Salt-spray resistance > 1,500 h on welds cleaned in < 90 s.
Real-world data
BrightMetal installed the wire on two Fronius TPS/i robot lines in April 2025. After 30 days:
• Grinding headcount dropped from 4 operators to 1.
• Booth reject rate fell from 8 % to 1.2 %.
• Annual cost savings: USD 112,000 in labor and abrasives.
